Calendar Shenanigans: The sun sign isn't where it used to be . .
Are you the sign you thought you were? Probably not.
If you believe in divine alignment and want horoscopes based on mathematical calendars, you will have to choose between the symbolic and mathematical methods.
Has your sign been part of your identity? Has it shaped your identity?
I am about to blow your mind, and you may not like it. Birthdate-based Astrology is about IDENTITY and challenges to that can really set off emotional repercussions.
I was raised with astrology and had my full chart drawn and read when I was 14, and those ideas had a profound impact on who I thought I was. For example, my sun and moon—in the chart—are conjunct within 1 degree. So I felt special—like I had some superpower—even though I never resonated with the sign they were in, no matter how hard I tried.
About 15 years later, I majored in Behavioral Science in college, and my view of astrology shifted to seeing it as psychology based on archetypes rather than physics and math.
It wasn’t easy to give up my special identity, but I came to that conclusion myself. No one confronted me with it. You may not want to change your ideas about yourself because of this article. If that is the case, you be you! I am just offering some math facts. Do with them what you will. Maybe some of you will find your new sign fits better and be happy. I hope so.
Even without birthdate astrology, it’s still very valuable to know—especially for artists of all kinds.
Signs of the Times & Divine Math Theory
Since this is December, let’s look at the calendar for Sagittarius as an example.
Sagittarius (Dhanus, Kheshet).
November 22-December 21 — Traditional Western Astrology
December 18- January 19 — Astronomy
December 15- January 13 — Vedic Astrology (Indian)
December to January — Judeo-Christian Astrology (new moon to new moon)
You will notice from the Vedic and Hebrew dates above that they align much better with current math. That’s because they have always been based on the actual and current movement of the Earth, Sun, Moon, and constellations rather than the traditional line-up.
“Astrological signs are determined by the position of the sun relative to certain constellations on a person’s day of birth. The problem is, the positions were determined more than 2,000 years ago. Nowadays, the stars have shifted in the night sky so much that horoscope signs are nearly a month off.” — Live Science
Are you still a Sagittarius (or whatever)?
If your birthday is November 22nd to the 24th, you are now a Libra! If your birthday is November 25 to December 17, you are now a Scorpio. Congratulations??!!??
You might be thinking, Oh, Hell No! I AM a Sagittarius.
Okay by me.
I think you can choose. I believe astrology is a science, but it's the science of archetypes in the collective mind and in psychology. There are many personality typing systems. Astrology is the oldest and most developed.
Why not decide which signs suit you best and give yourself The Big Three: Sun, Moon, and Rising signs?
Find out if your sign has changed.
I made images that include all the calendar dates for each sign, like the one for Sagittarius above, OR use a Jewish calendar converter to determine which month you were born in for the Hebrew zodiac.
You can also use a Vedic astrology calculator site to determine your entire birth chart there.
Judeo-Christian Astrology Comes with Warnings
If you use the Hebrew calendar, remember that the Judeo-Christian bible (Deuteronomy 18) says you may not use this knowledge for divination, spells, or decision-making. (Just sayin’)
Apparently, it’s totally okay to use it for self-knowledge or to apply it to fictional characters, which is what I do here at In Our Stars!
